Recyclable Aromatherapy Packaging

One of the suggestions I found when I was doing my linen closet cleaning project was to add a sachet in with the folded linens to scent them. Well I did not have any sachets, but the other day I ran across a simple way to make them. Then, I thought how neat it would be to scent some of my MEMORABLE MENTIONS packaging, so customers could use it as a sachet.

All you need is an essential oil of your choice, an absorbent cotton pad or ball, a sealable plastic bag, and piece paper. Simply add a few drops of essential oil to the cotton pad, place it in the sealable plastic bag along with the paper, and wait a couple days. When you take out the paper, it will have absorbed the scent of the essential oil.

You can see from the picture above that I decided to scent the cards I use for packaging my pendants. Customers have a choice of Lavender or a combination of Honeysuckle, Geranium, and Ylang Ylang. I also did a set with one of my favorite essential oil mixtures from Aveda® called Rainforest. (Don't worry if you are scent sensitive. I also have some that are unscented.)

Besides the linen closet, you can put the scented cards in with your lingerie, or even your kitchen towels.

This would also be a great way to recycle your greeting cards. Just cut out an image from the card and do the same as I did above with my business cards.
